I enjoyed the historical fantasy novel The Raven's Call. The settings/references reminded me of central Asia ('yurts', 'Khans'), ancient tribes of Eastern Europe, and we even find mention of Amazonia, which I know to be the home of Diana, Wonder Woman, an Amazonian blue-blood and part of the female warrior sisterhood. The ties to various mythologies were strong. I adored the training and awakening of the female warriors and the animal spirits, particularly ravens and dogs sent to guide and act as portents. The main characters, Rayl and Kiri, are role models for female power, and the book is heavy with feminine empowerment. If you enjoy books that include themes of betrayal, loyalty, politics, treachery & deceit, acceptance, adventure, military themes, (particularly the power and capability of women warriors), and later in the book, even romance, you'll enjoy The Raven's Call.
